Stone Harbor New Jersey
is a small beach community centrally located in Cape May County on the Jersey Cape along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The town’s motto is the “Seashore at its Best,” and visitors have been coming here for over 75 years to enjoy the town’s pristine beaches, fine restaurants and tranquil atmosphere. Stone Harbor has three miles of protected beaches that are perfect for swimming, sunning, surfing, walking, sandcastle building, beach volleyball and more. Some of the town’s beaches are designated for swimming only, while others permit rafts and surfboards – and these areas are clearly marked. Nestled between the beach and the bay lies the town’s shopping district with more than 100 unique shops and art galleries. Visitors are impressed with the small town charm and quaint shopping district that features one-of-a-kind gifts and souvenirs. Stone Harbor merchants also sponsor several special events and holiday activities each year. This is a great town for strolling, with many eateries, from fine restaurants to cafes, located within easy walking distance of most places in town. The cool ocean breezes are welcome on warm summer evenings, and many places offer candlelight, nightly entertainment and exotic drinks, adding to the tropical feel. There is much to see and do here any time of the year, from May through October, or in the more quiet, peaceful season of winter.
Outdoor fun abounds in Stone Harbor with beach activities and sports such as baseball, volleyball, shuffleboard, tennis and golf. You can hike a woodland trail, splash in the surf, soak up the sun, paddle a canoe, ride a Ferris wheel, shop for antiques or curl up with a good book. Many charters are available for a day of deep-sea fishing, whale watching or a fascinating dolphin excursion. The clean, clear waters of Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean offer an abundance of waterfowl, sea life and aquatic mammals. Stone Harbor and the surrounding Cape May area have historical spots of interest, lighthouses, summer camps, boardwalks, amusement parks, an authentic Victorian village and National Historic Landmarks. There is enough entertainment here to keep you busy for days, and finding a place to stay is no problem, with everything from rental homes, condos, vintage bed & breakfasts, lovely hotels and inns available – some located right along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline. Stone Harbor is just minutes to the other Cape May County seaside villages of Avalon, Sea Isle City, Wildwood and Cape May. It is also just a short drive to the Atlantic City Boardwalk and Casinos, and the famous Wildwoods Boardwalk, which is a boardwalk that is 38 blocks of pure fun, and more rides and entertainment than Disneyland. Dolphin watching, water sports, fishing, biking, golf – these are just a few of the activities at the Wildwoods. Beach aerobics are available, or you can take a trolley tour of the largest collection of mid-century “Doo-Wop” Architecture or visit the National Marbles Hall of Fame. It’s all part of the Jersey Shore.
